Africa

Welcome to Africa

Africa is among the most vibrant, colorful, and lively places on earth and this begins with the great diversity of the people. Stretching north of the Sahara Desert the people and culture reflect that of the Middle East in many ways as they share a language, religion, foods, and much more. However, as you travel south the culture changes, the language changes, the religion changes, and the foods change.

These many changes aren't uniform; the differences in sub-Saharan Africa stretch from language to language, religion to religion, and food to food. Nearly every country boasts incredible diversity ethnically, linguistically, and culturally.

The way of life in Africa is also incredibly diverse due to the landscape and history of the people. The wet and river-filled west creates a vastly different lifestyle than the great savanas of the east, the rain forests in central Africa, the open plains in the south, and the deserts of the southwest and north. These landscapes have provided different foods, animals, and lifestyles.

In addition to these changing landscapes, the lands also experienced vastly different outside influences as many Europeans settled the coastal lands, some even making their way further inland. These people brought in new foods, clothing, languages, and religions. In many ways these new religions have had the greatest impact on the culture and lifestyle, but these outside influences have also altered city skylines, transportation, and jobs.

While some cities and places may look and feel quite European, these feelings are short-lived as the vibrant people and culture always dominate the scene, whether that's in a city or in a small village. The people are friendly, open, social, and curious. The culture in Africa is vastly different from one place to the next, but they are also incredible exotic to most travelers, making Africa unlike any other destination in the world.
