Finland is a country that doesn't seem to belong as nearly every identifying feature of the country is unique in some way. The country is geographically separated from the rest of Scandinavia, their language is a Uralic language from Central Asia, their ethnicity is the same, their history is one of occupation, meaning there is no old architecture or incredible history that so many other European countries boast. These differences are what make Finland quite different from the rest of Europe.

With fast food, modern architecture, and more untouched wilderness than just about anywhere on the continent, at first glance Finland may seem to have more in common with the United States or Canada than Europe. However true Finland is similar to many places and things as the people have proven to be very adaptable, yet making these outside influences their own. The solitude, beauty, and friendliness found in Finland make this destination well worth the stop.
