Travel Warnings!
The below travel warnings are for your information as a precaution before or during
travel to the countries listed below. Please note that this list is limited in scope,
does not contain every danger, may not be up to date, and may be missing relevant
information.
Before traveling, check with you country's Department of Foreign Affairs or
similar government agency to get updated information.
All travel requires risk and the below information is only intended to help you
make a more informed decision (it is not intended to be the sole criteria for making
your travel decisions); all risk associated with travel is still the responsibility
of the traveler.
Egypt: November, 2011
In the middle of November, 2011 Egypt erupted in violence. While this violence was
limited in location and victim, every traveler should take extreme caution if traveling
to Egypt. Most violence was between government officials and Egyptian citizens located
in Cairo. Anyone in this area is highly susceptible to danger and this violence
has the possibility to expand in location and/or scope so proceed with caution.
Syria: November, 2011
Syria is on the verge of civil war and, despite calls for peaceful negotiations,
violence has been escalating throughout late 2011. No part of Syria is safe and
the entire country should be avoided.
Libya: October, 2011
Libya suffered a civil war in late 2011 and, although most violence has subsided,
the country remains unstable with the potential for violence to erupt at any place
at any time. No part of Libya is safe and the entire country should be avoided.
Tunisia: September, 2011
During the summer and fall (autumn) of 2011 Tunisia erupted in violence. While this
violence was limited in location and victim, every traveler should take extreme
caution if traveling to Tunisia. Most violence was between government officials
and Tunisian citizens who were protesting the government, with higher incidents
occurring in the capital of Tunis. Although most violence has subsided, the country
remains unstable with the potential for violence to erupt at any place at any time.
North Korea: January, 2011
North Korea is an unpredictable and unstable country, whose leadership is not on
good terms with nearly every other nation in the world. The country cannot be recommended
for travel due to this instability. The situation seems to change monthly or even
weekly so prior to travel check with your local Department of Foreign Affairs and
a travel agency specializing in travel to North Korea to assess the current situation.
