Troy, the famed city of Homer
August 19, 2005
I was very impressed with Troy seeing as how I’ve both read the Iliad and seen the
movie, which is a less than accurate portrayal, but then you try to make a movie
with mythical gods and goddesses.
The ruins are alright, really the wall of Troy VI is the most impressive part of
the grounds and they alone make the trip worth it (for someone like me who has read
the book), as I sat and pictured the body of Hector being dragged in front of them
over 3,000 years ago in the year 1250 B.C.
As ruins this site is pretty mediocre, but I loved it and although I hear from everyone
that it’s overrated I feel that no one has actually read the book and no one has
any idea of the enormity of the novel, written by the greatest author of ancient
times, and one of the most most famous authors ever.
